Go Blazers!

So we made the LONG drive down to Alabama on Friday, after picking Emory up from school. The first 4.5 hours breezed by. The second half of the trip took forever! That being said, our kids did awesome! We only had to stop twice and made an 8.5 hour drive in 9.5 hours. We left Goldsboro at 2:45 EST and made it to Birmingham at 11:15pm CST. We made the trip mainly to see my grandparents. My grandmother fell and had surgery a few weeks ago and I REALLY wanted to get down to see them. With Monday being Labor Day, we took advantage of the long weekend and made the drive. There were a lot of added bonuses--football, tailgates, birthday parties!

We had a busy, fun-filled weekend. We started the day Saturday at Legion Field to cheer on our Blazers at the only game we will be able to attend this year. We won! Very convincingly actually! It was the first time UAB had won a season opener in 5 seasons! The first 2 minutes looked like every other UAB game we have attended, our opponent driving down the field for a touchdown. However, after those first two minutes Troy never hand the upper hand again! It was nice going to a "boring" UAB game where we win!

Chase thought Riley needed her own seat. She's wedged between the back and bottom. She didn't mind it at first but it didn't last long!

I hope UAB's season continues to go well. That will definitely be the only game we attend but it may be the only game we "see" as well. Being up in North Carolina, I'm not sure we will get much UAB football on out TV! Oh well. At least there's the internet!
