3 Month Photo Shoot

There are of course many others but here are a few. I plan on taking one of them (or maybe a few) and framing it for the hallway. And again...thank you Katie!

Baby Dedication

Emory's baby dedication was this past weekend in Birmingham, AL. Since Chase and I have just recently found a church here in Nashville, we decided to have her dedication at Brookwood Baptist. Besides it is where we hope to be in a few more years anyway. The service was so sweet. The preacher had researched Emory's name to find the meaning behind it. Katie was able to take pictures during the service and then after lunch we were able to take her 3-month pictures (blog above).

It was a really big bag filled with LOTS of fun toys!!

Singing into his new microphone wearing his new outfit!

Yesterday was Bennett's 2nd birthday, so this weekend was spent in Jacksonville, AL to celebrate! His party was Saturday and it was filled with lots of food, fun, and a lot of toys for the B-man!! Happy Birthday B!

(For those of you who don't know, Bennett is our nephew. Chase's older brother's son.)

The Loves of My Life

The first picture was actually taken with Chase in it too but he looked goofy and Em looked too cute to delete the picture. I love these two people more than anything in the world!!!

A Picture Worth a Thousand Words...

The Hole

Everyone knows the mysterious hole in their house that eats socks. You know, you put four socks in the washer and/or dryer and only three come out. Well, I have decided that this same hole, eats pacifiers too! We started out with five and we are down to two! In reality I should probably blame the little furry 9 pound thing that runs around our house, but I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt and blame it on the hole. I am sure that when we move a few years from now that I will find a pile of them where they have been put for "safe keeping."

Just another Weekend

These are a few pictures from last weekend when we went to Jacksonville and Birmingham for Bennett and Blue's Christning. Bennett will be two this weekend and Blue is a month older than Emory (technically 5 weeks).

Bennett was giving Emory a kiss but my camera wasn't fast enough to get the picture!

I was taking pictures of the girls and Bennett stuck his head in!!

Before I was a Mother

I have been thinking about a few things that I use to do before Emory came along and decided to write a few down and they made me laugh.

Before I was a mother I took long showers everyday. Now I am lucky to get a 5 minute shower!

Before I was a mother I slept in complete darkness. Now I sleep with the bathroom light on so that I don't trip over myself going to the nursery at 3am.

Before I was a mother I read novels. At least one every two weeks. Now I read Dr. Seuss and The Little Engine that Could.

Before I was a mother I listened to all kinds of music. Now I listen to nursery rhymes and lullabies.

Before I was a mother I slept through the night. I haven't sleep longer then 5 hours at a time since April 13th!

Before I was a mother I was entertained by my TV shows. Now my daughter's smiles and squeals keep me entertained for hours on end!

Before I was a mother it was all about me and my husband. Now I would do ANYTHING for her if it means she is happy.

Before I was a mother I did whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Now I live my life in 3 hour increments!

Before I was a mother I could be out of the house in 5 minutes. Now it takes me 30 minutes to get out plus another 10 to go back in to get what I forgot the first time!!

Before, I was just a nurse. Now I am a mother and I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Before I was a mother I cared about all those things and worried about more. Now, I have learned to take every in stride...spit up on my shirt, no big deal, the spot isn't that big and it's probably going to happen again.

Over the last three months I have experienced the most amazing thing. Motherhood. I have LOVED every minute of it and I wouldn't trade a second! God has truly blessed me with a beautiful, healthy, and wonderful daughter. I love her more than I ever thought possible!

Stowaway

We were in Jacksonville this past weekend and when I opened the car door to go home this is what I found!! Bennett was buckled in and ready to go...so cute! He was not a happy camper when his daddy had to drag him out of the car!

3 Months

Emory turned 3 months old on Sunday. In the last month we have discovered many new things!! She is smiling ALL the time now, talks and squeals (which is so much fun to listen to)and many other things.
She loves to try and sit up,

She has found her hands which are good for holding in the pacifier,

or chewing on,

and she is blowing lots of bubbles and drooling ALL the time!

The problem with the hands thing, is that, yes it can hold in the pacifier, but they also take it away sometimes and she isn't quite coordinated enough just yet to get the darn thing back in her mouth. It is funny to watch her try though! We are working on trying to turn over but we aren't quite there yet. That one I am a little unsure of. I kinda like her to still be in the same spot when I get back to her. Being mobile is going to be very interesting!!
By the way, the daycare thing is getting much easier and she seems to do well. They must be miracle workers because she has managed to take 2, 2-hour naps each day she is there. I still can't get her to take 1, 2-hour nap!!!

Working Mommy

Yesterday was my first day back to work. It was every bit as hard as I thought it would be. The tears actually started Wednesday night while I was packing everything for Thursday. Thursday morning I got up, got ready, and was giving Chase all the necessary instructions when I started crying again. I called my mom on the way to work crying...it scared her, she thought something had happened to Emory...no I just didn't want to go to work. The thing is that I love my job, I always have, but I love being a mommy even more and I want that to be my only job! Everyone at work was wonderful and very understanding which made the day go by so much easier. I tried to not be the mom that calls every hour, so I only called 3 times to check on her. One time she was screaming which made me cry again of course. The great thing about my job is that I work two days one week and three the next week. Now they are LONG days but at least Emory doesn't have to be in daycare everyday. Today we haven't really done anything but play and sleep!! My next day to work is Saturday so Chase is keeping her. It should be very interesting because the longest he has had her without me has been about three hours and she slept the WHOLE time! Saturday will be almost 14 hours just the two of them. I wonder how many phone calls I will get?!

Happy 4th!!

This year for the 4th of July we spent it in the country. And when I say country, it is about as country as you can get!!! We had a Rigney Family Reunion in Copeland, AL. Most of yall are thinking "where the heck is that?" Well, it is about an hour north of Mobile, right on the Alabama/Mississippi line, a map dot. My granddad, Pop, my dad's dad, grew up down there and most of the family still lives there. Basically it's a bunch of farm land. We had a great time getting to see family, some of which I haven't seen since my wedding, and getting to introduce Emory to everyone. Most of us were able to attend, I think we were missing 7. Which is very impressive. My great-grandmother was even able to attend, she will be 92-years-old in October. She was amazed that Emory was her great-great-granddaughter!! Our day was filled with great food and wonderful family!!

Mom and Kathy

Cole is trying to coach Claire to pull her tooth!

Will and Payton

Four generations of Rigney men, with the woman that helped start it all.

The Doug Rigney, Sr side.

Nannie and Pop with their great grandchildren.

Emory about to take her first 4-wheeler ride. Chase only drove about ten feet in 2nd gear but it still counts!

There would have been more pictures but I forgot to take the memory card out of the computer before we left. So all I had was the internal memory on the camera and it doesn't hold very much!

Someday

A friend of mine wrote this on the card she gave me at my baby shower. I found it again the other day and thought I would share. It makes me smile every time I read it.

Someday, she'll be a famous pianist or a high school science teacher. She'll settle down, marry, have a couple of kids, or maybe she won't.

Someday, she'll help millions of people all over the world. Or maybe she'll travel, send letters from Africa or phone you from Rome.

Someday, she'll be a strong confident women, but you will always remember the first time you held her in your arms.

Someday, she'll have her own hopes and dreams, not knowing that once upon a quiet time, you closed your eyes and dreamed to have her in your life.

It hard to imagine Emory all grown up but of course, as a mother, I want ONLY the best for her.
