Family Time

So I mentioned in my previous posts that our man reason for going to Birmingham was to see my grandparents. We had plans to go over Sunday but had to wait for them to get home from church and lunch. During our waiting time we decided to go on a hike. We drove out to Oak Mountain State Park and chose a trail we had never done...the Treetop Trail. It's a fairly short trail and goes through the enclosures for the injured birds of prey. The trail ends at the Alabama Wildlife Center. We took the tour because it gave us a chance to cool off!

Gavin was being a goofball and refused to take a picture.

Oh those eyes!

This was at the wildlife center. While they don't have any eagles at this time, Emory was impressed to see how big one could be. We saw several red tailed hawks and several different kinds of owls.

Our attempt at a family picture. Riley is asleep, Gavin is faking it.

After leaving the park we headed to Surin to grab our lunch to go and head to my grandparents. We were able to spend almost 2 hours with them and catch up. Nannie looks great and is getting around very well after her surgery. It was great seeing them and seeing how well she is doing, rather than getting it second hand from my parents.

Gavin managed to find all the cars and line them up for play.

He also found a play tea pitcher and teacup and insisted on serving tea to everyone. It was pretty cute!

Sunday evening was spent with our immediate family. Mom and dad spent the day cooking (for an army) and we all gathered for "lupper" at 4pm.

So Riley and Graeme weren't having it, but it's a small miracle that everyone is looking at the camera and no one is screaming! Definitely a framer!!

Papa with his Riley. See she can smile and it is beautiful when she does!

Eva was Emory's baby. She looks thrilled about it doesn't she?! Ha! Honestly though if Eva didn't want to play the baby she would definitely would have let Emory know. The kid's not shy about sharing her mind!

Jody is being goofy and trying to make fun of someone...otherwise it's a great picture!

Mandy and I have managed to have children at the same time. We are missing the Martin counterpart for Sammy. Eva and Gavin are 5 weeks apart, Eva is older.

Graeme and Riley are 12 weeks apart, Riley is older, but Graeme out weighs Riley by 3 pounds!

We had a great time in Birmingham this weekend. So glad we were able to go and spend time with our family. It was much needed. It was hard to leave this morning but knowing that the drive isn't horrible and can be done in a day and the kids did so well, is very reassuring.
