Summer Kick Off

I have never been so excited for summer! I think it's because, for the last 169 days (minus 3-4 due to sickness) we have gotten up every weekday morning a 5:30 to get Emory ready for school. Monday when I didn't have to do that anymore, I felt like I was forgetting something! Sleeping in has been glorious. And yes I get to sleep in even though I have young children. Chase and I have been blessed with late sleepers. Not sure how we did it but I will take it! Growing up our kickoff to summer was always spending memorial day at the lake. Minus a few years due to moving and selling houses we have stayed pretty consistent. We even got married Memorial Day weekend, on the lake!

This year we went the the Dave Matthews concerts the Friday and Saturday nights before and then spent Sunday at the Lake with his family and Monday with my family in Birmingham. It was Chase's last weekend to see family before we move to North Carolina, so saying bye to everyone was kinda sad.

He looks unsure in this picture but the 4 wheeler was his favorite...the lake...not so much.

Blue and Emory...Emory looks tall until she gets around the Martin cousins!

Chillin'

Blue was a little fish.

My babies were bums...

This is as good as it gets when you have 8 kids, 7 and under!

Beautiful!

Finley and Riley

We celebrated Gavin's birthday while we were there.

He looked like Charlie Chaplin with his blue mustache!

Elyn and Gavin scoping out the new toys

We got to see Belle!! She's still such a sweet dog...Riley was a fan!

Finley and Elyn...look at those curls!!!

Curly haired babies!

Emory isn't so much a fan of the water but she loves the inter-tube!

Those eyes and curls are going to be trouble!

So much love in this picture!
We made a last minute decision to go to Birmingham on Monday to spend a few hours with my family. It was going to be the last time Chase would be in Birmingham for a while. I'm going back with the kids in a week but Chase needed to say bye.

Sweet Eva and Katie.

Gavin and Nita

Daddy and his baby girl.

Sweet cousins

Will and Sam

Jody and Katie. I love that he comes to all the family functions. He even joined the boys this past weekend at a skeet shoot.
It was a great weekend with a bittersweet ending. While I am sad to be moving so far away from family I know that they will visit and we will as well. And there's always Facetime!
