One Year under the Belt

We did it!! We survived our first year of big kid school!! I thought it might me a LONG year the way we started out the year, crying everyday, but she soon made friends and got "use to" waking up at the crack of dawn during the week. I am NOT going to miss that part of starting a new school in North Carolina! Anyway, we had a great year with a great teacher. Emory went from recognizing only a few sight words, to reading books! She has come so far and we are SO proud!!

End of year program

Emory and Adalyn

Emory and Daddy in her classroom

Emory and Hailey

Bounce house fun!!

Love this girl

We got a sitter for the morning so we could spend some one on one time at her program and party afterwards!
The last day of school was awards day. Every student got a kindergarten completion certificate. So it was a graduation of sorts. Emory was excited to have us there. That's what matters!

Walking in with her class

And she spotted us!

And Brother spotted his beloved Sissy!

Receiving her certificate

We loved Ms. Hamrick!

Emory and Sarah...her little buddy!

Emory, Sarah,  Brooklyn, Ashlyn, and Bailey

They wanted a picture holding up their certificates

Emory and Bella...small world story...Bella's parents are from Africa. Bella's mom attended UAB. Her degree is Biomedical Engineering...my dad was one of her professors...they met again at Emory's birthday party and both recognized each other...Bella and Emory were in the same class this year...small world!!

Emory, Bella, and Phoenix. Phoenix and Emory have known each other since 4K at New Hope Baptist
The same day of Emory's program was Gavin's last day of MDO. They had a little party of sorts and since I had a sitter for Riley I was able to go. I LOVE this program and hate to leave it! I pray we can find one just as good in North Carolina!

With his teacher Ms. Amber.

Gavin with the director, Martina.

Emory getting off the school bus for the last time this school year!

First and last day of MDO and Kindergarten! Clearly Gavin has changed a lot...Emory's was more subtle...a little less "baby fat" and 4 missing teeth!
What a great first year! Bring on first grade!!
