A BIG Birthday Weekend
My brother and Chase both have birthday's in August one day apart. Cole's is August 10 and Chase's is August 11. For two years now my family has come to Nashville the weekend of their birthday's to celebrate. One year ago Sunday (August 10) we found out that we were pregnant with Emory. That was probably the best birthday present I could get Chase so it was difficult to top it this year. Chase was off Friday through Monday this year for his birthday which was so nice. We were able to spend a lot of time together as a family. Friday, Chase and I had the opportunity to kayak down the Duck River, thanks to one of my friends Ginny (she kept Emory and loaned us another boat). Those of you that know me are probably thinking, "Erin went kayaking?" So maybe I should clarify, the "rapids" that we encountered were probably -3 class, if there was such a thing. Basically we paddled/floated down the river. It was nice though to be able to get away and have adult conversations in the peace and quiet of the river for a couple of hours. Not to mention it was a great upper body workout. Friday afternoon Cole, Mandy, and Payton arrived. The boys grilled out and then after dinner we watch a movie. Saturday morning my parents and sister arrived and the day was filled with shopping for the girls. Katie is going through recruitment at UAB this year and we wanted to pick out some cute clothes for her to wear to the parties. Saturday night we went out to dinner at the Japanese steak house. It has become a tradition in our family, lots of good food and entertainment. Sunday was the zoo. Last year Cole and Mandy and Chase and I went to the zoo. It's where Cole and Mandy figured out that we were pregnant, so we said that we would come back and bring the babies this year. The weather was great, that goodness for the "cold front" which brought the temp down to the mid 80s instead of the the 90s. Emory and Payton enjoyed themselves, at least we think they did. Today, Chase's birthday, we were able to sleep in (as much as Emory would let us) and had birthday cake for breakfast and then went out to lunch at Chile Burrito. If anyone knows my husband they know that he LOVES burritos, so naturally that is what we had for lunch. (We went to Moe's on Friday). The rest of the day was pretty lazy which was very nice. Now Emory is in the bed and asleep and we can spend a little quality time together before he has to go back to work tomorrow. It was a great weekend!
