The Thursday before the wedding we decided that we needed to take a break and mom and I took the kids to the zoo. While we had a million other things we needed to do, it was nice to get away from it all for a few hours and enjoy the wonders of the zoo with the babies! This was Riley first trip to a zoo where she really could "participate." We live 2 hours from a zoo now and left the Nashville area when she was only 6 months old. As an adult, every zebra looks like any other zebra from any other zoo, but through a kids eyes you get to experience the wonder of it all! Gavin loved running from one exhibit to the next and of course the train. What little boy doesn't love the train?!
Gavin and his Nita
Giraffe Gavin!
The love these 2 have for each other amazes me!
Goofy Riley!
Riley was amazed by the train as well!
He was so excited he could hardly sit still!
Baby girl was slightly distracted by something!
"mom, are you really going to make me take a picture?!"
So Gavin was determined to go into the Loraket exhibit. He was all about it...until one landed on his head and then he couldn't get out of there fast enough!
The Birmingham zoo has greatly improved over the past couple of years. They still have some work to do but they are headed in the right direction! We followed up the zoo with lunch at Olexa's, one of my favorite places to eat in Birmingham. every time I go, I have a list of places to eat (Birmingham has some of the best food) and Olexa's is at the top of a very long list...Milo's and O'carr's are up there too (we ate at both of those places too)! It's amazing that my dress still fit on Saturday for the wedding! It offered very little wiggle room!
